Halftone Engine: turn any image or video into a live field of dots

Drop in a photo or a clip and it is redrawn as a grid of dots that take their colour straight from the footage, then clipped to a shape whose edge is built from whole dots rather than a hard crop. It all runs live on a canvas, so the dots ripple, drift and react to your cursor while a video keeps playing underneath. Every setting sits in a control panel inside the frame, so you dial the look in on the canvas instead of guessing at numbers.

What you get

  • Image or video as the source. Upload a file straight into the frame or bind one from the properties panel.

  • 10 shape masks: Circle · Hexagon · Diamond · Square · Triangle · Arch · Blob · Ring · Star · Full Frame

  • 10 presets: Solar · Pasture · Bisect · Press · Badge · Poster · Orbit · Scanline · Pool · Starlight

  • 8 motions: Ripple · Wave · Breathe · Scan · Swirl · Orbit · Drift · None. Swirl and Orbit twist the image inside the mask, so the silhouette stays sharp while the picture turns.

  • 4 colour modes: Media · Mono · Duotone · Posterize, plus paper colour, invert, and a paper fill toggle for transparent backgrounds.

  • 5 dot shapes: Circle · Square · Diamond · Ring · Cross, with grid pitch, dot size and contrast sliders.

  • 3 sizing curves: Fixed · Light Big · Dark Big, trading dot size against brightness for a true print halftone.

  • 3 entrances: Bloom · Sweep · Scatter, with a replay button.

  • 4 cursor behaviours: None · Bulge · Repel · Spotlight, with range and force.

  • Control panel with five placements. Collapse it, or switch off any menu group per instance so a client only sees the controls you want them touching.

  • One canvas, no dependencies, and a crisp static frame in the editor instead of an empty box.

Use it for a hero portrait, an about page avatar, a full-bleed banner, or a small card thumbnail.
